- i am new to diving but have spent a fair bit of time on the water over the years. boating & fishing the bc coast was how i spent much of my childhood; other liquid-medium pass-times included: working as a fly-fishing guide, surfing, white-water canoeing and more recently sea-kayak instructor.
these days, i have a chronic back injury which forces me to approach my few remaining activities in very different ways (can you say "absolutely no sitting or lifting"?). initially, i was doing short daily open-water swims as a part of physical rehab. limited to a snail's pace, one day i decided to pull out an old mask and started diving to the bottom to make it more interesting. daily diving naturally led to online inquiries, then freediving of course, and db (thankfully). - Location
