My weekend dive plans started out to be an advanced course. That fell apart and left me looking for something to do. One of my students belongs to a private lake north of Peoria, about an hours drive for me. He gave me a call and I headed up early so we could get in during the no wake time. 10 am the ski boats are allowed to run.
So we go along the rock dam, but right away my dive buddy Dave noticed the lake had greened up from the previous weekend. We jump in hoping the rocks...

Saturday June 20th was a great day to be diving. It had been raining pretty good the week leading up to it. I thought the visibility would be down for sure. Not even, the vis was 30' - 40'. I do not get up there often enough. It's a 2.5 hour drive for me. It was great to be able to see the contours of the bottom. There is so much character to it. I want to go up and explore it more, off the beaten path so to speak.

I took the watch to the lake, we had three training dives to do to finish NAUI open water dives. To see what others thought I let a couple of student try it as well.
First, the watch and everyday use. It's a very nice watch, typical strong Suunto construction on the case. Heavy and rugged. I was wondering how the crown would be since it is pretty good size. It has not been an interference at all. I do not accidentally press any buttons or anything....

The dive shop I work for had 4 NAUI students finishing up their open water dives this past weekend. I had worked with them as a Divemaster/Assistant Inst for their course in the pool. Now I'm an instructor and I get to finish do their final 3 open water dives.
Everything went smooth, no problems. The students were calm and handled the skills just fine. Mask flood and clear, Mask removal, hovering, Controlled Emergency Ascents, all of it, smooth. The third dive of the day was...

Memorial day weekend, time to dive! I have not been freediving in awhile. I don't do NEAR enough freediving. Wreckrunner recently bought a boat, so I was headed up for my first trips out on the S.S. I'm On A Boat (not it's real name, but...) I left Friday night to stay with Mr and Mrs Wreckrunner and leave early am to head out to Lake Michigan.
We got the boat in the water and then waited for this crazy polish guy to show up, Nostres. The lake was flat and the water was a cool...
