    When we spear we freedive. A lot of us can scuba, but we enjoy freediving. I'll dive either. Haigh Quarry is a good place to scuba dive too. I'm not sure what dive charters are up around Chicago.

    Spearing though, like I said, is easier to just got to WI.

    You are welcome to come on any spearing trip. It's hard to find a place in Illinois to spear, so we go up to Wisconsin to spear fish. Problem is, I don't know when I'll get to go back up there. Any trips I get will most likely be to do deep dives, not as much spearing. You might contact Whopperhead and/or Jon (both are usernames on the forum) about diving. They may be able to meet up with you sooner than I can. I know they are talking about it being a good time to get fish right now. I just can't get up there until July at the earliest I think.

    I'm not newcomer under water. First time I touch the speargun is probably 30 years ago. But it was in Europe and last 10 years in this country I didn't do any steps forward. This means I do not know good places, traditions, regulations. Maybe the best if you invite me in one of your fishing trip. I will promise not to obstruct and be obedient.

    There are several divers in the area. I'm about 2 - 3 hours from Chi, depending on which side... Norstes and WreckRunner are up there and two people I dive with. We also dive in Wisconsin. Post in the Wisconsin forum. I am trying to get an instructor course done with Martin Stepanek, so I hope to be able to offer some training in the area. I have some friends here that would like to start too.
