No worries X. Always up for discussing dyneema conversions!! If you need any bits let me know as I have a line in freebies (braid/rope) which you can try. Cheers buddy.

I got the 1.5mm Dyneema braid from Subprof. Ordered 50 meters of it by mistake as I was looking for rope. Still, I can use it as general purpose shooting/tying line (or guy line on my tent)! Its a nice yellow colour as well. Some dyneema braids have a square cross section (OMER) and others are round (like Dyneforce). The braids will wear on a spear notch however - go for rope (or spectra). I have found a chap on ebay who sells 2mm Dyneema rope in 5m bundles for something like £2.50. It has a red outer nylon sheath and a dyneema core. Really abrasion resistant and it sits very well in a spear notch. Personally, I'd avoid buying line per meter from spearfishing outlets as online chandlers can't get rid of the stuff. I saw a 50m reel of 2mm dyneema rope on ebay going for £8 "buy it now". Dirt cheap.

Hey X, I am really enjoying the Cayman Carbon 75. Especially now it is converted to Dyneema. Slightly muzzle heavy but no big deal. The 75 suits my style of spearfishing and I seem to be taking a lot more fish than I did with my 60!!! Interesting Japan thread. The pole spearing website (linked there) is quite impressive. Those chaps are getting some decent fish!! A mate of mine goes to Japan to surf and he's been talking about setting up a seaweed farm in Cornwall!

I didn't realize coloured fins were a japanese thing. But now that you mention it, pinks, blues, greens and even yellow are available. One of the main reasons I was thinking of painting the fins is, I got a camo wet suit last year and they just dont blend together. And the other main reason if I sneak a peak behind me they really glare and my eyes are automatically drawn to them. So any fish about have a bit of time before my eyes adjust.

Thanks for the rep. you gave me for my "rainy afternoon catch" Your comment "with white fins to" got me to thinking, I should paint them. They do kind of glow in the depths. What do you suggest Black or go multi-color like a camo?

    Thanks

It makes more sense than continually trying to find the thread on the page.

Can you make the Ireland spearing thread a sticky please? Or maybe a Subforum?
    Thanks
