Hi Mick,
Cheers for the message i am more of a freediver than a spearo and only spear to help out if someone else wants to go out. i prefer taking photos as I am not a big fish eater but i think its definatly the best way to fish. i,m based in Sligo and have had a few guys here some from dublin and some from Greece. I usually train in the uk doing courses or competitions. there is no shortage of good sized pollock in sligo I usually dive around mullaghmore where a friend has a small fishing boat and he likes to spearfish. give me a shout if your ever heading to the north west.
Regards Feargus.

the hornet here, thanks Fergus for your welcome. I am based in the midlands, I like to do my hunting in South Mayo & Connemara , I prefer to hunt big fish & usually target big Pollock or any species thats a good challenge. Some years ago I speared a big fish I think it was a Tuna, about 3 & half feet & 40pounds or so. Despite a direct hit he put up a good fight which gave me no end of pleasure for about 30 minutes or so, when I tired him out & finished him off . the reason I dont know what the species was is because within minutes of landing him on shore I had him gutted & ready for the freezer,So far this was the highlight of my spearfishing,
how about you?
Mick
