Re: Hard or soft

I think you've just got to try it. I started out with a hard blade, mainly by accident and then everyone told me I should have a softer one - my next fin was a medium but I found I preferred the hard one and would only buy a hard one now.... it's a very individual thing. Best thing is probably to try and borrow some and try them. If you can't do that, buy a medium!

Re: Hard or soft

Adam!

I have medium monofin, I love it for DYF but I broke it. Karmo from Special Fins said I need hard fin so I got it and I love it even more. Now I got carbon dolphin hard, I am faster compare to medium and I don't fell as I use so much more energy, my distances prove it. 120m DYF PB with medium and 135m with hard, I just don't kick as strong when I use hard fin.

But everyone is different that's why the best thing for You to do before You buy it is try it, I know it's easy to say when You don't have many freedivers around. Palooza starts soon, there will be chance to try any mono You can imagine

Re: Hard or soft

Palooza may start soon but I am on the other side of the world.
There are a few freedivers here and a comp in August so I should get a good chance then to try a variety of stiffnesses.

Re: Hard or soft

I got a Leaderfin hyper pro a year back, medium blade. Love it but will go softer when I eventaully oreder my next one.

If you're heading up to to the Auckland for the 11 - 12 August comp, there should be quite a few monos you can try, mine included.
