Lightbulb C4 Monofin!

Italian company C4, famous for its fine bifins, is now aggressing the market of monofins. A prototype has been recently unveiled at the "International scientific convention on apnea training".
Pics are hardly available on internet, but that thing is huge: the C4 Monofin is all made of carbon, with Mustang-Stile footpockets, side "T" shaped water rails and a big "Flap" (same as on the C4 Flap and Mustangs). It looks like two Mustangs put together.
This was just FYI

Re: C4 Monofin!

Uh! Found it! They say it's a prototype, not yet available for purchase, and that the testing times wil not be short.

Re: C4 Monofin!

Thanks for posting that! Reminds me of Kirk Krack wishing he could glue his Falcon 40s together way back in 2000. Took them long enough.

It looks like it would be great in a straight line, but perhaps not as good for changing direction. I'd love to try one out, if you have any connections...

Re: C4 Monofin!

Interesting! I've thought about those pockets on a mono before - be interesting to try that.

Re: C4 Monofin!

before I got a waterway I was using a finis trainer which is basically footpockets and a rectangular shape fiberglass blade, was very functional but lacked the volume and snape of a full mono, always wondered what it would be like if someone made a high end version of that general idea, guess this is it, be cool to see how they work, price

Re: C4 Monofin!

Interesting! The footpockets have a different look to them. Are they adjustable? Are carbon fins so rare, or is it this company's design that is so unique?

Re: C4 Monofin!

Carbon monofins are not that rare. They've been around for quite a long time for finswimming, at least ten years, I think, probably longer.

This design is unique in the fin set-up, by the looks of it, it really is similar to two bi fins fused together. I'm curious to know how the thickness goes from toe to tip and if they have done anything special with the flex characteristics a la Mat Mas or Russian fins.

It is Butt ugly. Of course, being sublimely macho, this is of no consequence to me.

Re: C4 Monofin!

You'd need a very high amplitude kick to flex a fin that long

Well, if Fondueset thinks it's ugly, that's it then, we just can't have it. Get it out of Our sight!

Re: C4 Monofin!

Ah, my young padoine. You are as yet unschooled in the ways of cosmic machismo. Ugly things, in moderation of course, enhance the density of the testicles. We must have this fin!

What I think is that such a long blade will give more travel with less body movement and that the footpockets will go a ways toward cleaning up the slop with normal full pockets. It could be jolly efficient.

Spaghetti; please send one along at your earliest convenience. In return I shall reward you with a petoskey stone.
