Monofin bag for one monofin with backpackstraps?

I look for a good monofin bag for just one monofin that also has sturdy backpack straps for transporting one monofin (Waterway Glide).

Speak to Pablo, he has made them himself before

Doesn't the Waterway pack fit? I had one and it was great.

Re: Monofin bag for one monofin with backpackstraps?

Well the Waterway is for fitting many fins, my friend likes to have a snugg good backpack monofinbag easy to breing when travelling for freediving on a trian or such.

So it is nice if the backpack feature is really good and the bag is snug for one fin.

I'm having one made by the local sailmaker and will pick it up today (hopefully) - If this works out and the price is right, I'll ask him if he's willing to accept orders and make more of them.

Re: Monofin bag for one monofin with backpackstraps?

they are not hard to make yourself, I made one not too long ago specifically for airline travel, build a lightweight shallow wood box open on one end to slide fin in/out, sewn a backpack for box to fit in with zipper and clasp. took staps off old backpack to attach, its the only way I trust a mono on an airline, and they have not managed to damage it yet. Sorry I'm away from home for a while so can't include a picture, send one later if this thread is still going

Got mine and it's nice and simple, but I'm not at home right now. So the pictures will come later.

Re: Monofin bag for one monofin with backpackstraps?

All right. here we go. :-)

I told the sailmaker to just attach three loops to the bag, so I can use any kind of string or webbing to make it a backpack.
since there is hardly any weight involved, this is way enough. Without the webbing/string, there's no tangling at all. very good.
The top is just closed with a flap and some velcro. should be enough, but a zipper might make sense as well.
I just told them what the thing should do: Protect the fin from Dust, Sand, Sun and make it easier to carry around, so they made the bag from the stuff that is used for boats' persennings, waterproof (apart from the seams), and pretty rugged.

Lesson learned: The top two loops should be closer together.

I'm happy.

Re: Monofin bag for one monofin with backpackstraps?

Sanso - do you mind telling us the price? I had one made by a sailmaker and it's really cool but came out at £65 - far too expensive to sell on!

@Sanso,
where did you buy it?
And did you ask them if they would accept some more orders?
I´d like one of these..

I went to the local (i.e. Konstanz) Sailmaker. I mentioned that there might be more orders and I think they're playing around with the idea - even though they don't admit to it yet .
That bag was the first ever for them, tailored around a Waterway model II, so I guess with different fins one would have to help them get the shape right. With pictures / drawings or such.
Believe it or not, but I don't have any contact details, I just know the shop is on my way to work, but give me the details on Your fin and I'll pass 'em on.

Re: Monofin bag for one monofin with backpackstraps?

here's some pics of the pack I made for airline travel, it's a shallow box that tappers toward the blade edge, box is lightweight- tacked and glued-added some tape around edges to prevent any snags on matterial, the bag zipps up after you insert the mono, then the bag wich is slightly taller than the box folds over the front and attaches snug with and adjustable backpack clasp, I robbed an old backpack for the parts, works great and so far is indestructable.

Huh? I have the monofin bag that Performance Freediving sells for $50 bucks and it works great! There's room to pack clothes to cushion the fin if you're traveling, but I wouldn't even think about trying to pack more than one fin into the bag.

If you're going to order a monofin from Performance Freediving, get the bag at the same time and then you don't have to pay shipping on it. It is worth the $50 bucks.
