Breier winged monfins?

hi guys

was poking around on the net last night and found a japanese website showing the what looks to be new range of Breier monofins and they have a winged range in Carbon, texalium and fibreglass that look very nice.

anybody used or know anything about these?

does anybody know the home website for breier fins (have been trying to find one with no luck)

and finally anybody know what they are worth in comparison to say a Leaderfins hyper?

Hi DD,
Breier are just about the coolest looking monofin blades around, but word is that the footpockets aren't that good. I haven't tried them my self,- it is ust hearsay from my part. But pitty as do they look SWEET :-)
I have a Leaderfin Hyper Pro which I am really happy with, mind you I got it this winter so have only used it in the pool (but 3 times a week) so far, but will take it out in the sea soon.
Lots of people (20-30) from our club bought Leaderfins this winter, and are generally happy with them, although the blades do tend to be on the soft side. That said, people have found that they are able to wear them for longer than they did with their waterways. This is both good and bad,- the bad bit beeing that if you can wear it comfortably for too long, then you are probably loosing some energy in the transfer from foot to footpocket.
Anyway,- overall, I will give leaderfins a thumbs up.

yeah, they do look sweet, already have a Leaderfin Hyper (not professional) on order i would have gone the professional but for constant weight they arent partcularly good (too much compression)

got it in Bright red with Danish flag (had to be done) and fin protection, was curious about the breier fins because i like the materials used and the foot pocket shap on the winged models looks very good.

Managed to get an old viking Rune charm for protection in water, so am getting it painted onto the blade.

Nice to know everybody is pretty happy with their leaderfins.

Monofins and bifins from Eric Breier are well known in France.
Breier products good blades. His new design footpockets for monofin is (IMHO) quite soft for your feet (painless) but also not really efficient : not tightly and the rubber seems to be too softer to maintain strongly the feet.
Although, the footpockets are realy confortable because of the tailor-made design (you can choose it), so you can wear them for very long sessions.

But, unfortunately Breier monofins (with wings) are quite expensive : fiberglass 400€, fiberglass-TX 430€, and carbon 500€...

They have better prices for clubs. At least for those organized under FFESSM; not sure if the discounts are available for foreign clubs too. So if you are a member of a club (or possibly also if you can make a batch order for several friends), you'll not only save on the freight, but also get a considerably better price. And if you are living out of the EU, then ask them for deducing the VAT, which will make a big difference too (almost 20%).

They do have a website (BREIER) but since many years there is just the announcement that it is going to be open in November 2005 (!)

so the way i understand is that the blades are very good quality however the foot pocket are not very efficient (but comfortable).

ARE THE FOOT POCKETS REALLY THAT BAD THAT I WOULD LOOSE A NOTICABLE AMOUNT OF DEPTH or only a little bit?

the pricing is quite high but maybe able to receive some kind of discount due to reduction in tax and maybe a club purchase.

i'll contact them and see what cant of information and pricing i can get.

No, I don't think so. It could be noticeable in finswimming (sprint or long distance), but not really in freediving : a bad mouvement is really more unefficient...
