a few weeks back i ordered a waterway nemo through the PFI guys. I was scared to death the footpockets were gonna be to small or something, well much to my relief they fit just perfect. I was ecstatic! Untill i noticed that little white line on the blade
devistation. It's about a centimeter long and it gose right up to the bottom of the first 'column' on the back of the blade. Dose anyone have an idea about what i might do about this? I remember seeing a thread about something similar, but if memory serves me right the blade was of a diffrent design then my waterway. Normally i'd send it back or something but i highly doubt i'd get it back in time for my upcomeing trip to florida <.< (sorry the pics arn't so hot, my camera ain't exactly fancy) |

Fibreglass and epoxy it. You can use those ding repair kits for surfboards.
The cracks on my mono were worse. I cut off a whole wave.

The ding repair kits are polyester resin not epoxy. Given that type of crack they will be ok but epxoy resin is much stronger and what was used for the blade construction. Using sand paper on the tip of your finger you should sand about half (1/4 each side) the thickness out about 1cm wide along the crack. This allows space for the fibreglass cloth and resin and you can then sand back to the original thickness. Sad that the fin arrived damaged but I've had much worse and the crack you have is very fixable.

Thanks for all your help. It worked pretty well, held up in the water as well. Looks a little dirty but it works!
Unfortunately it came the wrong thickness! i ordered the long-distance fin (which unless i'm mistaken that's the soft one right?) and i got the #3 which is the hard sprint fin(anybody want a fin? XD) Last edited by black_straws; July 11th, 2008 at 17:48. |

Contact PFI.Mandy is a gem at resolving issues with Waterways that's why they are the reps.I just recieved mine and am thoroughly pleased with the quality and service
both from PFI and Waterways all the best happy diving,ps at least you have a mono to use until you get a replacement and you will have huge thighs and tight abs from the work out of the hard mono-DeeDee |

It is very sad that you got the wrong hardness and now after the crack and with this super expensive shipping you will have hard time getting it swapped. About 2 years ago water way had a different dealer in Ontario he use to have most of the fins in stock in Toronto, buying from him was easy and shipping was almost for free. But after Mandy started selling water way products he shut down the website and stopped the business.I leave in Vancouver and i tried to buy something from Mandy 2 years ago she had nothing in stocks and i had to pay in advance to her and wait for the shipping from Ukraine . I didn't like the idea and i went i bought my self C4 carbon fins from an authorized dealer for north America i was very pleased with the service shipping and product. Many people give good reviews to specialfins.com. I haven't bought a product from them but you are buying directly from the manufacture so i guess you will get the correct thickness and if they don't have one in stock they can make you one.

yeah i think the 3# is the medium blade as well... not xtra stiff but could be wrong as Peraglie said i'm pretty sure there are 5 if not 6 stiffness levels so the 3# should be ok for most recreational freediving.
