Airgun (oleo) maintenance, modifications & accessories

I believe these links may be of general interest to those relatively new to the dark side:

- How to perform standard oleo maintenance (disassembly & re-assembly): http://www.webalice.it/svl555/smonta...giofucile.html

- Oleo modifications: http://www.webalice.it/svl555/Sub/fucile.html

- How to build a manometer (instead of making one I chose to order one from kara-yo Pescasub.com - La comunidad de pescadores submarinos and highly recommend it): http://www.webalice.it/svl555/manometro/manometro.html

Only to mention one modification that I have taken up based on the advice provided by svl and my own observations: as a matter of fact, the sharp edges on the front part of shaft/piston adaptor chip small pieces from the plastic shock absorber. Rounding the front part of the adaptor with abrasive paper and polishing it avoids this and provides for a much less friction and noise (esp. if you insert a thin Teflon washer in front of the shock absorber as svl recommends).

Another article worthwhile reading on modifications from the pre-mamba or dawning of the mamba era: Articolo

Happy reading and watching!

Cheers

OOOOOOOOOOO nice looking links, THANKS.

I love those DIY improvements and have been looking for an excuse to take apart my ASSO. I will have to try one of those online translators. Can anyone recommend a good site for these???

Re: Airgun (oleo) maintenance, modifications & accessories

Dear azapa,

I have taken apart many different oleopneumatic spearguns over the years(cressi SL, mares/spora cyrano, stealth, spark and sten).

Internally, they are all pretty much the same and surprisingly simple! You can safely follow the instructions by svl in the first link I posted for your asso maintenance routine. Standard maintenance is fairly easy. All you need is basic tools, a set of o-rings (I exchange all o-rings about every 2 yrs) and synthetic fork oil 5-10 SAE. Of course, for your comfort, it would be helpful if you were able to locate the asso manual that came with gun. If I remember correctly it also includes a technical drawing of the asso showing all parts with numbers and a reference index.

Always remember to completely discharge all pressure from the gun before you start the disassembly!

Have fun!
