Hi everyone. If you read my previous "post,s"on an "Asso",this is to clarify matters. Now, listen-up!,I,m only going to say this ONCE!.Many people,(including myself !)did not,do not, understand the, half power/full power method of loading a pneumatic gun which has this facillity.So,... IF YOU FIRE WITH THE CONTROL IN THE FULL POWER POSITION,WHEN YOU RELOAD,EVEN IF YOU,VE SWITCHED IT TO THE HALF POWER POSITION,YOU WILL STILL BE LOADING ON FULL POWER, WHICH WILL BE VERY HARD. HOWEVER,IF YOU FIRE IN THE HALF POWER POSITION,& KEEP IT THERE, YOU CAN RELOAD ON HALF POWER & SWITCH IT TO FULL POWER FOR A FULL POWER SHOT.SO,.....QUESTION,...HOW DO I FIRE ON FULL POWER & RELOAD ON HALF POWER, TO MAKE IT EASY?.ANSWER...AFTER FIRING, SWITCH IT TO HALF POWER,INSERT THE SHAFT & PUSH IT IN ABOUT 150MM (6 INCHES)THEN,STILL KEEPING HOLD OF IT, LET IT SLOWLY RETURN TO IT,S START POSITION,REPEAT, BUT THIS TIME PUSH IT IN A LITTLE FURTHER,REPEAT THE PROCESS UNTIL IT CLICK,S HOME. What you are doing is pushing the air, that,s trapped in the barrel,(behind the piston, but in front of the one way valve)back, past the one way valve, into the pressure chamber. I do hope this help,s people, even some sale,s people don't fully understand this, sorry I labored the explanation, but this is for our friends who don't speak English, as well. Geoff.

Good Geoff!!!
..that's why that valve is there...usually companies (cressi/mares etc etc) suggest to put it half power and give several hard stroke with shaft to load it and then switch it on full power......but with a little of tecnica (as the dutch guy said oh the other thread) you will be able to load it normally....I'm telling you this becouse I have got the feeling that the power control device will soon be removed... by |

sorry, that wont work!
There is no one way valve in a conventional air gun. All the power reducer switch does is seal off the outer barrel. cheers dave Spearguns by Spearo uk ltd finest supplier of speargun, monofins, speargun and freediving equipment |

Where is this one way valve and what purpose does it serve?
Page 86 of this pdf http://www.aberdeenwatersports.com/F...aresManual.pdf has a an exploded diagram of a Sten, which is exactly the same mechanically as all other airguns (Seac, Cressi, tigullio etc). The only one way valve is the loading valve at the back where the pump is attached cheers dave Spearguns by Spearo uk ltd finest supplier of speargun, monofins, speargun and freediving equipment Last edited by dave; September 20th, 2007 at 09:52. |

....The valve is in the plastic block located half inch away from the hole used to seal the upper tank of the gun... in the cressi it used to be made of plastic now it's make of steel.....the purpose is exactly what I said earlier: loading the gun with strokes...
I have loaded airguns billion of times but I never did it that way.....to me the valves it's useless..... ciao |

Hi, MARMIR,why do you think the half/full power facility will be discontinued?.
Dave, if you look at the parts list of this sten gun,(page 87)you will see at No. 68 it clearly states,"seat, one way valve".To go directly to page 87,look at the top of your screen, you will see, 1 / 177,delete the one & replace with 87 then press "Enter". Regard,s... Geoff...... I,m confused, after posting this I went back to the "exploded view",you may be right Dave,on this gun anyway, but my gun, an Asso 135 does have a "one way valve",how else could I push the air back into the pressure chamber with the piston,(without engaging it with the trigger) & not have the same air force the piston back up ?. OK, you win! I never knew that was there, I always remove the power regulator block and throw it away
I am still not convinced that it will make loading any easier though. For the air to flow through the valve you would need to hold the spear in the barrel for some time, and the initial loading effort will be the same. cheers dave Spearguns by Spearo uk ltd finest supplier of speargun, monofins, speargun and freediving equipment |

Dave, nobody wins....I think exactly as you do, I have always removed it.....
Geoff,...I can't tell you exactly why, just a feeling......I'm sure we'll soon see a thread asking for how to improve speed and power of your gun..... you know, exactly as me and Dave did long time ago.... Ciao |

I already no how to increase the speed & power, what you do is put about half a kilo of gun powder in the barrel, then wack it with a hammer..........I have,nt tried this yet, what do you think?.....Safe diving, Geoff.

As some already mentioned above, I also routinely remove the Teflon block which is an integral part of the power reducer functionality on my 110 Stealth/Spark airguns.
These long (aspetto) guns are not versatile to begin with and do not require versatility but power. By removing the Teflon block power is increased significantly (some Italian experts claim by 20%). On smaller airguns the power reducer is an asset, esp. if you don't want to risk destroying your shaft while shooting in the vicinity of rocks. A good description of the power reducer functionality, including its use as a means to reduce the loading effort, may be found here: Il Funzionamento Cheers |

good point ulysses: I have a power reducer on my asso 65 but have never used it. I would rather bend a shaft that loose a nice fish. I can't for one second imagine the: see fish -- oops close to rocks -- reduce power -- fire scenario! The fish would belt off laughing at you!
