Re: Hydro- Pneumatic anyone?

...All I know is that tha tank was filled with air and after loading the shaft the tank room was drastically reduced by injecting water through a lever (pump).....the gun was very heavy due to high pressure that tank could hold (even 100 bars).
Repertorio fucili storici go to this site you will see pics of some old guns....

Re: Hydro- Pneumatic anyone?

Hydro-pneumatic spearguns are quite common in Russia.
One popular model was intially designed by a guy whose last name is Zelinsky
It is commonly known as zelinka
here is a pic Самодельное оружие для подводной охоты.
another one is being made by a guy whose Internet nickname is Hanter and who lives in St. Pete.
One of of major advantages of these guns is that you can load them in several motions and the shaft won't jump out if your arm slips for some reason when loading
One of disadvantages is that it has negative buyoancy

Re: Hydro- Pneumatic anyone?

The Hydro Pneum system was scrapped by most companies for numerous reasons, the main one probably being the presision of the internal parts being a tadge costly, also as you will see in most designs they were short and the trend of the time was getting bigger and bandy and if i remember the military were the designers of the system in the first place, in my opinion the reason is that 99% of all the old guns lay at 400000 ft because the Ba*+ards are so heavy and dropped like stones when you let them go, and dont forget this was a time of speedo trunks 1kilo weight and a set of rubber fins.so if they are on the comeback then good luck.

Peter.

Geoff,
Dozens of Russian and Urkainian spearfishers use these guns and discuss them at their Russian-language forums, such as tetis.ru You don't hear from them - because they don't visit this forum. I personally decided against buying one - a because it has a more complicated design and is thus more difficult to repair if it breaks down during a trip and because it has negative buyoancy
