Hi, My asso was lost 12M or so under the ocean for two months. I took off the protective rubber cover it had on the cylinder, rinsed with fresh h20 and have sprayed all over with penetrating oil. It looks like new!
I have the asso manual and cross-section/parts list. BUT can anyone give me some strip down tips. Where to start? Sequence, any tricky bits. any easy to break bits if I don't take care? I am quite handy and have a good workshop, so don't be afraid! ![]() ![]() Thanks |

Have a look @ these two links for instructions, pictorials and video clips relating to airgun disassembly:

Actually, all pneumatic guns are very similar. But the Seac Asso looks more like a clone of an older Mares model. Cressi SL is the only pneumatic with a decentralised inner chamber/barrel.

Hey Ulysses, I have JUST taken the gun appart, quite easy with the great links you sent. A little water had entered the gun and some corrosion on the very end of the inner barrel. Where would you recommend to buy the spares from?? No dealers here in Chile
Somewhere who would do mail order/shipping to chile? Thanks again, you are a great source of info on Pnuemo guns!

Azapa, congratulation on your first airgun disassembly!
Anybody can unravel the mysteries of airgun maintenance even without being overly dexterous (I for one am far from being a handyman As to the spare parts: the only online-shop that features a decent section on airgun spares ('ricambi oleopneumatici') is TuttoPescaMare :: SUBACQUEA » FUCILI SUBACQUEI » RICAMBI OLEOPNEUMATICI :: However, if you do not find what you need there, you may encounter some language problems ... Alternatively, you may want to contact Laurent Kalifa at chasse sous marine.net, achat vente d'équipement et matériel de chasse sous-marine He sells Seac Asso's and may have some spare parts available (even though they are not shown in the online shop). Laurent and his staff speak English. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm as to whether or not either of the two will arrange for a delivery to Chile and at what cost. Cheers |

ulysses, my Oleopnuematic expert buddy, I have a question for you on the rebuild and also an idea how to remove the stupid rear air valve:
1st picture, is the muzzle end of the barrel, you can see moderate corrosion here. I guess from the gun being -12m for 2 months 2. picture. The asso air valve has a wide slot, that in my case was very very tight. In the videos a small simple and narrow metal key is shown. I think the asso valve is different. I made this tool from a 15mm socket, ground down and used with the 1/2" socket handle. It was very very tight, but moved on the 10th attempt. Cheers!

Dear azapa,
as the regards the corrosion on the barrel thread: Has the threaded part of the barrel become brittle due to the corrosion? If so, this would appear to be a serious safety issue and, hence, I would strongly recommend replacing the barrel before completing the reassembly and using the gun. If not, i.e. only minor chips in the threading, I would go ahead with the reassembly and use the gun at low pressures (eg 15-20 bar) at first. In order to mend the the chipping I would use 3-5 rounds of teflon tape to seal the threading before screwing on the muzzle. Actually, the Asso valve is similar to the Mares, Sporasub, Cressi ones, ie the all have a very wide slot. Initially I used a thick metal file. Now I use a ss pipe of appropriate diameter with a cross bolt. The front part has been cut and filed to match the slot of the valve. Be careful to avoid cross-threading when you put back the valve. gun went together fine. in fact the whole take down and rebuild was a blast. The gun holds air fine at 20bar. will test in the ocean next weekend! thanks again ulysses, you gave me the info. and confidence to go for it!
