What is the purpose of the slide ring on your shaft? Its going to cause lots of drag and that slide ring will cause a huge hole when the spear completely passes the fish. Adding a screw-on speartip will change the balance of your spear making it a bit front heavy. I dont think this is an issue with a smaller gun since the shots will be close.
Thats the beauty of tovarich kit. A simple reliable system that shoots a spear super fast with very minimal drag. I think tovarich kit should be only used on long gun where a far shot is often taken. 4m and up. Last edited by GreekDiver; June 15th, 2008 at 23:34. Reason: oring = slide ring |

GreekDiver,
I'm not sure what you mean by O'ring making a hole, there isn't an O'ring on the shaft. I used the slide ring because there are accuracy problems with line attachment at the front of shafts, see: http://aquatech1.narod.ru/index1.html The small slide ring will create a small amount of drag at the back of the shaft but it is very low profile. The slide ring will also ensure drag from the shooting line pulls from the back of the shaft not the front. My assumption is that this will overcome the accuracy issues while being as hydrodynamic as possible. I was going to use crimps on the line either side of the slide ring to keep it hydrodynamic but I didn't have the right size and the knots are almost as small as the slide ring. The tips do have some shoulders on the joining piece, I will probably taper those off with the dremel. Cheers, TJ |

Oring = slide ring...sorry my bad.
I havent noticed any accuracy issues yet when i use it. I havent been diving in while due to work but here is a video from Shane. baracuda from about 5 meters away. It looks accurate to me. Videodipesca - I migliori video del web - The best fishing videos on the web :: Barracuda 4.5kgs |

Glad to see I'm not the only one using a short modded pneumatic
testing of the vico jet is still to come, but just like before the modification, it still sinks like a rock.

Thx for sharing petar...that vico jet is like the old pneu. use to be I still don't know why they changed the design it seems more hydro dynamic than the fat tube guns

Trip was fantastic, comming home wasn't too good. Got Dengue fever the day I got home, never been so sick. All good now, winds will be dieing down soon so I can get out diving and fishing. The mackerel are running now (early) but they're huge. My neighbour got 3 all over 33kg the other day before both his trolling lines got smashed off. We are talking 12/0 hook, 200kg cable, rope and springer tied to the boat so must be some huge fish there. Waste of time to spear these bad boys. I've caught many a 30kg mac out at this spot and you have about 5 seconds to get in the boat before the sharks clean it up. Fun though!
