A mile underwater for Sport Relief on 14 March

Swim a mile [underwater] for Sport Relief

Between 9 and 10pm on Friday 14th March, the night before a Salt-Free meet, Bristol & Bath Underwater Hockey Club are hosting the first annual 1 mile underwater relay race in aid of Sport Relief.

We will be swimming 64 lengths of Longwell Green Swimming Pool in teams of 3 [or maybe 5] pushing an underwater hockey puck.

We are mainly inviting teams from other UWH clubs around the area but we would be happy to accept an entry from the lovely people at Salt Free, if you would care to join us.

It's all for chirity, mate

Re: A mile underwater for Sport Relief on 14 March

we did it - when I got there I was slightly surprised to hear the words "race" and "pushing an underwater hockey puck" but relieved to also hear the words "team relay"

me and "Team Bath" between us pushed our puck one mile underwater, breath holding in just over 22 minutes - we did come last but then we were the only team with girls and they had a freediver who had never seen a hockey puck in her life before (let alone the silly hat, glove and weird stick thing) to contend with!

It was a laugh -thanks Tom for organising - I'm gonna give the proper game a try with "team helston" in the next couple of weeks.... watch this space for bruises!

I raised £280 - thanks to everyone who sponsored me.
