I'm wondering if anyone has a list of small-shop speargun builders? I think most spearos have heard of Daryl Wong, but aside from that, I really don't know of any. I ask because I'm beginning to search for a nice gun, and would like to at least check out as many as possible.
A list of makers would also probably be a great resource (and maybe a sticky.) |

Talking of woodies I can help with some italian craftsmen, some are famous worldwide (such as Fabrizio D'Agnano of Totemsub), others are not but very fine, all small limited handmade productions: some of them don't even have a website of their own.
Totemsub: based in Rome, makes many different models from lightweight reef to tuna guns. The Pelagos Premium speargun is national champion of UW target shooting. www.totemsub.it Ermes Sub: impressive and innovative trigger mechanisms in elegant wood artworks. http://www.bluworld.com/ermes/Arbaletelegno.html Parisi Sub. based near Verona, the town of Romeo and Juliet: spearguns for lovers! http://www.parisisub.com/prodotti_de...id_prodotto=80 gimansub: splendid artworks, family handmade by father and son, all wood, two models: labrax (slim and lightweight) and dentex (heavier for aspetto): http://www.gimansub.it/dentexeng.htm ![]()

I don't have a list put together, but for what it's worth, I am going into the boutique speargun business. I am currenty looking at different wood working equipment and tools. My shop is 20' x 10' and I plan to produce some really nice guns (all designed on AutoCAD of course).
I will post a thread as my little project develops. |

My favority
From Greece, great service I bought two guns from them, they delivered the in U.S. without problem. They take paypal, favority model is the pal-100. http:\\www.teak-sea.com, the guns are 100% teak, I've heard other woods may stain.

Don't forget Giorgio Dapiran's guns: http://www.dapiran.it/
And Victor Abellan from Spain: http://www.abellansub.com/ There is also Esperasub from Turkey, but their website (http://www.esperasub.com/) seems to be down or under construction for the moment. But take a look at their biggest gun: http://www.medfish.com/forum/preview...1/DSC01705.JPG Impressive! |

Oh, yes Dobs, Dapiran is the best!
Now watch out the Eros Purapnea hybrid (carbon+wood) and look at the inverted trigger!! Purapnea is a very small brand, no website. Pelizzari's school recommends their carbon blades as better than C4. Now, a pic of the Eros Purapnea Hybrid speargun, the trigger is "upside down", the firing finger can touch the shaft!!!: ![]()

Quote:
I've read articles and ads on magazines in the past months: it's a woody with a carbon sheet in the middle of wood listels. The carbon insert also holds an integral rail, with two holes for circular bands. The inverted trigger is the biggest innovation: your finger is on the same level of the shaft for a vary instinctive aiming. If you're really interested, I can look for an e-mail address or a phone number for Purapnea. ciao, Spago

no one has mentioned www.arbalegno.com ???? The maker of these art pieces goes on this forum by the name of Persiko. American made guns look at www.tikione.com , Ted makes some sexy looking guns there.
The greek guy, poseidon.com ?? Australian is kesby.com.au , www.spear-diver.com with homemade guns and many useful links I had not come across the one with the inverted mechanism one , not sure about that yet ?? Also, type in roller gun in google or any of the spearfishing forums for a whole different idea to spearguns ! |
