I'm a big Sporasub fan but the last gun I bought and still use is a black viper; not as sexy as some guns but sturdy and a good workhorse. Their airguns are good, based on good old Mares technology.

HI tengosurf, as most say, the good(wouldnt say ideal) length and gun is the 90 or 100 carbon cressi or omer but if you are not a poser the alloy ones are just as effective in good hands
, you can beef them up for larger fish(thicker and extra bands) and if you are worried about sturdiness rig up a breakaway system , i fish the "sometimes warm" Happy hunting Peter.

and by the way Marwan, this is amazing: I get most of my fish with the Comanche 60 (kitted for hole/kelp with 5 pronger and reel), and the Excalibur 100 Carbonium has been my flagship gun for years. We have so much in common... Tomy yes definitely: choosing the right gun depends on type of fish, type of bottom, techniques. I don't know what fishes you hunt in your tropical waters and how, so I couldn't tell what's the right gun for you.

I can't help you decide between the 3 spearguns mentioned - but looks like others have provided good advice. However, I think the chart on the sumora website is one of the clearest & best guides to choosing the correct length of speargun (also talk to local spearos and find out what has worked best for them): sumora, official distributors of Rabitech and Rob Allen

Hello tengosurf! I made a mistake, first instead of making a quote I opened another thread. Sorry it is your thread. The good thing about it, is that we all learned.
