Omer shaft in Riffe mech?

I have just gotten my hands on a Riffe trigger mech and want to make my own gun.
I live in Denmark and is having a hard time getting Riffe shafts, as we have no dealers here who have Riffe spare parts.
My question is: Can i use an Omer spear in a Riffe mech? Or any other european shaft for that matter.
Has anyone in here a close-up photo of the notch on a Riffe shaft (in case i have to modify an Omer spear)
Does the Riffe mech accomodate different shaft diameters.

Please help me out here, I am stuck on the project.

Thanks!
/Henrik

Henrik,

The notch in the rear of the Euro shafts are different from that of the American style shafts. I have both style guns and the shafts are not interchangeable.

good luck

Joel

hello henrik,
in general you ve got 2 different shaft kinds= the US and the EURO;
the US are square and euro are ``half moon`` more round .
you can NOT load one in the other one without damaging the trigger or the sear.in 98% from triggers...
Riffe mechs will agree shafts in US specs having diameter from 6.5mm up to 3/8 = 10 mm..
in the fllwg photo you can see the different looking between the euro and us..the US are the one with the 3 fins and threaded.
do not try to convert omer shaft to us specs..you could get a loading problem as the shaft could brake if decreasing too much..just my advice..

Re: Omer shaft in Riffe mech?

Hello Guys

Thank you for your replys.

Do any of you know the Riffe Euro series? - Are they made for standard Riffe shafts or do they have a trigger that will take an Euro shaft?

From what you are telling me I see no other way than modifying a Euro shaft to the Riffe notch specs.
I will cut off the rounded notch and mill a Riffe like notch (taking care not to remove too much material Marco. I hear your warning)

Thanks again
Henrik

Re: Omer shaft in Riffe mech?

Henrik,

The riffe standard shafts and the Euro shafts are different as are the trigger mech. I understand that you are in Denmark and may not have a dealer near you but what about the VAST online stores you have access to? Is it the shipping cost. I mean come on its Denmark not MARS!!!

I would NOT attempt to customize a shaft to fit your trigger mech, it could turn out really bad.

good luck,
Joel

Re: Omer shaft in Riffe mech?

Hi Joel

You hit the nail on the head.
The shipping costs from US to Denmark (within the European Union) are huge.
If I buy a 70 dollar shaft in the US it will cost me about 130 dollars in Shipping, taxes and VAT - a lot more than I initially intended to pay. But listening to your guys advice and to Jill Riffe whom I just got a mail from, I see no other way than buying a Riffe shaft.
My next step is to look within EU for Riffe dealers, to avoid paying the tax.

Do any of you guys know any places, preferably in the UK?

Appreciate you input!

/Henrik
