Question Leaking barrel, Omer Cayman Carbon

Hi everybody!

Newbie with a big problem
I have bought my speargun a couple of weeks ago,
and I now already have quite a lot of water in my barrel, slooshing around.

Upon dismantling the gun, I find some sort of waterseals (?) in the barrel,
about 10 cm from each end, trapping the water inside.
Need some pointers on how to break these seals, drain the tube and get the whole shabam together and hopefully watertight and nothing broken.

Anybody walked the path before me?

In advance, Thanks

Re: Leaking barrel, Omer Cayman Carbon

I'm trying to remember what those plugs look like. Do they have a nut or screw on them? I'm wondering if it is a seal that gets smashed out to wedge to the barrel making the seal? (Imagine 2 washers with a block of rubber between them and a bolt through the middle)

So if you loosen the screw it relives pressure and allows the rubber to decompress. I'm guessing the seal is not seated correctly and there is a small gap allowing water in.

I would re-seat both ends to be sure the leak is fixed.

Re: Leaking barrel, Omer Cayman Carbon

If the gun is brand new it sounds like it could fall under warranty? if you are not sure what to do maybe it would be best to take it back to the shop... if its at all possible. Make sure they fix it there or give you a gun to use, sometimes those warranty fixes take months.

I've been in contact with Omer, and they are replacing the gun,

Guess I'll never find out now.

But very satisfied still
