Starting at one end apply the clamps using firm but not excessive pressure so as not to starve the glued surface of the epoxy resin. 2 Pieces of wood clamped to each side may be of assistance to stop the slippery surface from sliding as pressure is applied. Once all clams are in place just check each one in turn to ensure firmness, as glue seeps from the joint the clamps may slacken a little.
There we are. The speargun blank has been fully prepared and glued. Now we must leave it like this for at least 4 days but we shall leave it until next week to be very sure that the job is perfect before proceeding further. I have been asked if there is a wish to detail some hints and tricks in setting up the woodworking tools used to ensure easy working. If you would require me to do this then I would be happy to talk about this during the next week. Please let me know. See you next time spearos |

Nicely done so far. I guess I can go back and look, but has the trigger group and handle been decided yet?
Again, it looks like a great start, much respect to you sir.

We have only touched on the trigger & handle but because this is going to be a euro gun the handle will be near the rear of the gun.
However we feel the handle could be set falward up to 150mm (6'') ish. If this becomes favourable the trigger will could be linked to the handle via a s/s pin. Lets get the discussions going.... Are there any benefits of a falward set handle & is this a cool idea?

Wouldn't it be better to have it back further to keep as long of an band pull on it as you can get? To maximize the energy? I thought I read once that the tension is important but you want the longest band stretch you can have so on a single band use the last notch/fin. Is this correct?

How does a linkage and push rod assembly affect trigger pull? Sorry for the basic questions, but I have not had experience with a wide variety of gun designs. It just seems a linkage setup could make for a harder trigger pull with more chance of play in the setup.

IL, dont worry about asking any questions you have.
The push-rod system is well tried & tested, all the American mid handle guns use this method. I can see how there might be a little more resistance but I was only suggesting a 4-5'' rod & we will be using a quality trigger, so no need to worry on those grounds.

Well, with it being a 90, I think the tracking will be fine having it back. I don't know that I have a preference. So I'll say just for the sake of something a little more unique than the average Euro gun, I'd say move it forward the 4"-5".

I'd say move the handle forward 12" and have done with it
![]() Aside a little, I was thinking in the usual abstract nonsensical way I usually do about this Derlin track business and it occurred to me that if the track was made from this then it could be interchangeable, so the lucky winner could fit an insert with a rail of if he or she wanted. Do we know how big the blank ended up after glueing yet?

I like the idea of the handle being a bit down the barrel. Not that relevant on a 90 but it would make loading a little easier as you can get it into the butt on chest position a little easier. Also a bit more bespoke and flash of course, which is always good.

Hello spearos
I failed to inform you of the dimensions of the glued laminations. They are at the muzzle 60mm w x 55mm h and at the but 78mm w x 55mm h. This will provide plenty of room for shaping and creating some interesting patterns with the 2 colors. We still have some Teak strips left over to widen the blank for further shaping if necessary. Nobody wants information of how to set up tools for professional results? OK this is no problem. Please request this if it is needed. See you next time spearos |

This maybe a daft question...but if the handle is fitted further forward than the rear of a normal euro style gun what happens to the line release? My line releases are on the side of the handle on my guns and this affects the amount of line on the gun therefore affecting the range.
Will this depend of what style of trigger is used?

Specifications for tools would be great, so that anyone that is new to building guns could easily find what is needed. I dont have the skills as of yet to do this but knowing how to would be a great first step eh?
