We have a poll running at the moment regarding the handle & trigger but we need to think about the guns shape too.
Can we discuse any ideas, suggestions or questions on this thread so a future poll can be set based on your thoughts. It would be great if some of you guys could put up some pics of guns you have seen or basic drawing of what you would like the gun to look like? Any ideas welcome?

OK I will start the ball rolling with two of my own guns, both are enclosed track & a similar size to our gun. Both have mass at the rear & tapper to the muzzle.

fox maybe also consider a barrel shape like the omer cayman HF2 where you have a cuttle fish shape on the back of the barrel and like mini wings near the muzzle...could be wicked

Some people mentioned in earlier threads about the cuttlefish shape. How about in the widest section we have something like this? The shape it further back with more room to load the wishbone onto the fin. The bottom of the gun could be further shaped to keep the strength and mass.

Less drag in the middle of the gun was the idea. Obviously it could be thinner in the centre as the strength would be in the sides. Then if the side profile looked like this with the centre line shown by the position of the shaft. Food for thought may be complete *******s

The bands would be hidden from the side view stopping chatter and making the whole profile slippery. The bending effect of the bands would be opposed more by the barrel shape too.

I would say an elliptical sort shape. So that the band resting on the barrel will lay inline with the tabs.
So the bands are laying in and become part of the gun

A couple of personal observations:
- slim barrels are a lot easier to maneovre in the water - both of my guns seem a tad barrel heavy. Maybe that's inevitable with rear-handle euro-guns - I've heard of others having similar experiences. It would be nice if this gun wasn't tip heavy. I think the wooden barreled Omer Cobra has a chamber on the muzzle where weight or buoyancy plugs can be added (although we'd probably want to avoid that extra volume). Perhaps Fondueset can provide some info. on this? Although those slim-tip guns of Foxfish look like that might not be a problem for them. [I like the recessed rubbers idea illustrated by ILdiver & Miles Abella-link, above. I wonder if there low-mounted rubbers of the super accurate Seatec Gabianno might offer any lessons?] Last edited by Mr. X; May 13th, 2008 at 21:22. |

I really like the spearotiki design, I suppose after the bands have been raised above the barrel you could then go back inot the wider more streamline cuttle fish shape. Check out my paint work below and check out spearotiki

lets keep some facts in the back of our minds...the gun is a 90cm single band with 6.5mm spear..so no point in adding a lot of mass to the barrel as there will be no double bands to counter the recoil for...i say keep it as light as possible so that you maximize the functionality..Abellan is designed to cater for 2x18 or even 20mm bands without recoil hence the added mass...the cayman Hf2 design i think would be cool with wood..its designed for maneuverability and i think the mini wings will add muzzle stability and make the gun a lazer...

I see where you are coming from but unless you use a wide Dapiran style metal wishbone then the bands will pull to the centre and ride up on top of the shaft anyway at the fins.
