Hi all,
During my 50 meter dynamics with mono, I get a weird feeling during the last 5-10 meters or so where my hands feel tingly and I start to lose some feeling in my fingers. I don't have contractions or a strong urge to breathe, but I'm worried this feeling could be dangerous. Has anyone felt this as well? |

are your arms overstretched, or is the tension in your shoulders a bit high? this could restrict the blood flow into your arms, and make for the weird sensation. alternatively, the nerve itself can be under pressure, same outcome. test this on land: stretch your arms in front of you, just like underwater and check how long it takes until you get strange sensations.

Chefkoch,
Thanks for your suggestion, I hands did start to go a a little numb after the same amount of time it took for 50M. I figure as I'm new to monofinning, and using my arms outstretched over my head that hopefully this is something that will go away with practice and stretching? |

No problem there, it will definately go away! As i started with freediving i was not able to keep my hands stretched out for a whole training session, but now it feels so natural that i often stretch my arms over my head when i feel relaxed, e.g. when sleeping. Strange feeling to wake up in the middle of the night, with a totally numb arm behind my head. One thing though: you can speed up the process by doing stretching exercises before you dive, it helps a lot. Focus your stretching on the waist area and shoulders.
