Setting up O2 och CO2 tabels

hi!
My static realy suck, I can mostly do 1.45 but still I can swim 75 meter with fins and 50 without. My biggest problem is that I cant withstand the contractions so I downloaded some table programs to train my static but i dont know really how to set up the times. How long initial holding time? How long initial resting time etc etc.

Thanks for your help.

PS. If someone have any tips on how to improve my static pleasy post them

One suggestion that I use, is not worring about your time. But try and count your contractions. Like try and hold for 2 contractions, next time 5 etc.
This way you'll slowly learn to get used to them.Especially if they are your main problem.

I'm sure divers here with more experiance will help you out table planning wise.

Contractions are just the WORST, but you do get used to them in time. My first contractions used to be strong, now my first one is usually a "soft" contraction (and on a good day, it usually doesn't hit until 2 mins into the hold). I've found that I can generally hold through about 20 contractions, but it's easy to lose count...mine start coming very fast after the 4th or so.

Re: Setting up O2 och CO2 tabels

hi, thanks for the replys. the last days I have been doing alot of static and have been counting both contrations and time. I get my first contractions about 1 min after I start but these I can easily push away. At around 1.30 I get more heavily contractions but I have trained alot now to withstand these and I can easily hold out now for another minute.

Then I have stopd holding my breath becouse I have had someone watching me seriously, been doing alot of training during my classes.

The same thing is for when I been doing dynamic, when I swim without fins I can the first contractions I cant withstand after about 20 meters but I can still continue swinging for another 25 m without getting any lactic acid.

Further then that havent I pushed my self yet. Mainly becouse in my apena club we only have insurance to 50 m and some boring people gets upset if we break that limitations. So I guess I have very low CO2 resistance. Ofcourse these contrations doesnt mean that I get very much worser results, I guess, but they are irritaiting and becouse I cant withstand them so good it makes my traing less fun. So is there any technics to raise the CO2 tolerence?

Style,

I have found that doing dry negatives helps my C02 tolerance alot. I exhale fully then "pump" the air out of my lungs with my cheeks. I start timing when I do the exhale and see how far I go. Also this is with no purge or hyperventillating before hand as this ruins the affect. I do very slow relaxing breaths for maybe 5 minutes then simply exhale into the negative breathhold. The "neat" thing about this is the contractions come very fast and hard so even 5 seconds more is a big deal to progress. Try and you will see. Frist I could do only 45 seconds, then 60 seconds and now 90 seconds. I increase 5 to 10 seconds per session. It's very mental and scary as the contractions come quickly and get intense fast. Then in a regular static the "normal" contractions don't seem like such a big deal. My PB static is 5:15 if you want to compare yourself.

Cheers Wes

hi, sounds as a very fast way to get some training, when I do a regular co2 or o2 table it takes me atleast 45 mins to end and surely longer for most people. since my first post I been making a great deal of progress. now I can easily hold 3.00 mins but thats in the end of a table. if I havent done any holdings before a atempt i can mostly hold 1.45-2.00

but I'm surely going to try out your negative apnea technic. hopefully it works. thanks for the tip.
