I am training for dynamic with fins. I have had C4 flap 30's for a couple of months now and love them. My problem is when doing pool training.
I vary my rountine by doing a length (30m) of hands by the sides scissor kick and then a length of hands in front dolphin kick. My problem is that I always seem to head toward the bottom of the pool and am then left too close to the bottom to get enough range of movement. This is more of a problem with dolphin kick. My thinking is that I am being too excessive in one phase. Beyond that I don't know. I am not wearing a suit or weights.

That's easy to fix - just grow a bigger belly - it will then keep you far enough from the bottom so that you have enough space for kicking!

Thanks Trux, Thats really helpful. I will start now by having some breakfast of Croissant with coffee and 5 sugars.

Abig belly and a swollen appendage would be sure to slow me down. I am actually looking for some serious advice on what I may be doing wrong. If you think I need to provide more info then please say so. If you just want to make fun of me......

No, I was just kidding. Sorry for that. Except of trying to stay slightly above the bottom I do not really have any tip for you. Personally, I do not mind licking the bottom (and also use the Flaps 30). Maybe because I already have some belly

oh so you're the big guy in those videos. Well if you have the Flap 30's you must have good taste so I'll forgive you. I guess I'll just keep experimenting.

It may sound backwards but a neck weight will help. You don't have to point down as much to descend at the start nor to maintain depth. Sure wish that I could use my C4s in the pool.

Thanks Bill, That does sound a bit backward but hey it can't hurt to try. I thought it may have more to do with my body position.
Why can't you use your C4's in the pool?

Until you spend a little time trimming out your balance while swimming very slowly, it's hard to realise how important it is.
Pool rules are no long fins. I think that it's mostly about the black marks that we were leaving on the pool sides. Bummer, but it forces me to use Voits or a mono fin. Aloha Bill

Thanks Bill, you're right -it is just about trying to find my feel for the water and how to make adjustments accordingly.
When I am at the pool here I nearly always get questions about my fins. But no pool staff have said anything except "tell the lifeguard what you're doing."
