Orca P-flex for dyn training

I have ordered a tri suit - Orca P-flex - for pool training. Just wondering whether I will need some weights to counteract the bouyancy?

I use an Ironman Stealth, which is pretty similar - I need to add an extra 4kg of lead to be neutral with that on.

Re: Orca P-flex for dyn training

I always wonder why someone would want to wear a full body suit like an Orca for dynamic. The suit is designed for swimmers so that you will float on the surface better. If I look at the specifics of the suit it seems very good for the dynamic movement, arm rotations, etc, but not really to swim horizontally underwater. For depth I can imagine it's much better, because compression of the suit is minimal.

Anyway, to answer your question, Ive seen p-flex suit being used in dynamic with 2 to 6 kg of weight.

Re: Orca P-flex for dyn training

Mostly I train with just swimming shorts but am getting this suit for times when I will be standing around waiting on buddys. I guess I misrepresented myself in saying it will be just for dynamic. More an all around suit for pool training when I am working more on technique and therefore not moving so much, or as fast as usual.
Also for wet static training I think it will be essential.

Re: Orca P-flex for dyn training

Moneybags!

I looked at the Orca range recently, the new ones look pretty bloody spiffy. Almost too bouyant for pools though (the top model has air channels inside the neoprene!).

Essentially they are all yamamoto suits with various patches of thicker neoprene. I bought a tri-suit from an Orca competitor and it has 4mm around the thighs, middle, chest, top of the shoulders, and 1.5mm under the arms and 3mm I think around the legs. Very buoyant. And very tight! But excellent suits.

Cheers,
Ben

Re: Orca P-flex for dyn training

I am using my p-flex now and it is wonderful. I am using 3.3kg weight but am still experimenting and plan to add a neck weight soon so that may require some more experimenting.
