Animated images?

Hi folks!

This is actually a question for the bosses of the forum:

Why aren't we allowed to upload animated images (*.gif)? We can choose our avatar from a variety of several animated pictures, but aren't allowed to upload our own. So why is that? I see that some of the older members have their personal animated avatars (probably uploaded a long time ago).

I don't really have a problem with that, this question comes just out of curiosity. Oh, and the support forum needed something to fill the empty space anyway.

Are you talking about uploading to your avatar or uploading as part of a general post?

I never tried, but personally am quite happy if it is realy so, and animated avatars cannot be uploaded. There is nothing more disturbing than viewing threads full of animated avatars.

Same here. The flashing and fast-moving ones are very distracting.
