How to find a freediving buddy?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Smell nice and look good . Actually, keep asking! This forum, Facebook. Depends on your location

Yeah location is an issue I have come to discover there are not many freedivers where I live.
Looks like you are on Gran Canaria and you can not find buddies? I am in a freaking NJ where there is a national holiday when visibility reaches 2 meters...

Yeah its super weird, for some reason the bulk of the comunity is in tenerife and there seem to be very little freedivers here.

I actually know a guy there who was a very good competitive swimmer but his diving is limited to about 12 meters due to ear issues. However he is a licensed captain (lives on a boat currently) and his family runs yachting charters. They take people out all over the world and their prices are modest by the western standards. The family is also on Gran Canaria. Small world after all!

This seems to be a common issue with freediving. My only advice is to try and start your own group if there isn't already one. Try and get the word out through social media and just don't give up. Even if you get only 1 other person it's something.

Yeah it's unfortunate. I managed to introduce a friend to the world of freediving though and he is hooked so now I have a diving buddy at least.
