Hi, I'm looking for a bit of advice please.
I'm looking for sites that I can build up my spearfishing skills but don't know where to start?

I'm in north west Essex at the moment and from what I've read on here the visibility in east anglia is non existent. I have no problem driving a couple of hours to the south coast, can anyone advise a good starting point?

Cheers

Please try the east coast & let us know how you get on - but I suggest waiting for optimal conditions to find the best visibility, e.g. after 3 or 4 days of flat, calm weather & seas, when there is little or no wind (and any wind is coming from the shore). In poor visibility, you can sometimes find clearer conditions a little further out and/or a little further down. I have become accustomed to fairly bad visibility but you need to be able to see someway beyond the point of your spear for spearfishing to be practical.

Anywhere on the south coast should be viable, although conditions will vary (see above). How about Bognor Regis, Shoreham, Brighton or one of the smaller places in between. Alternatively anywhere on the Hamsphire/Dorset coasts. Devon & Cornwall are often good.

Hey I'm in Cambs so not far from you . My mate and I often go up to north Norfolk. If the tides are low and the wind has been light vis can be really good.
