i dived in Port Phillip in January this year, and saw seals. the vis was AWESOME and so was the underwater world
a great place to live and dive.

Monterey/Carmel water temp stays pretty constant typically 11 degrees celsius at the surface and a little below 9 degrees at depth.

lots of lovely critters to see UW in these temps :)

cheers,

kp

In Finland in summer June-August mainly 18-23 C at surface, 4-12 C in depth.

November-January all lakes and sea freeze. Then there is 20-80 cm thick ice cover. In early May it's openwater again without an ice cover. We use here year-round Elios 5 mm suit with open cell or black coating inside. You can dive under ice with it about 15-30 min, somebody even more. Over 90% of openwater dives are done here on May-September. In winter time we use almost only swimming halls.

Somewhere around 14 summer and 6 winter here in ABZ...both with rain!

You can make your own guess about the water temperature in winter in Finland:

The problem is to get through the ice. Here it was over 70 cm thick.
