OAHU, Bellows Air Force station

I'm planning on taking a trip to Oahu and will be staying at the Bellows Air Force Station. I wanted to know if anyone has done any diving and spearing off Bellows Beach. I know from Sat photos there are some good reefs close into shore and just wanted to get some info on the area. I'm not even sure yet if I'm it's legal to spear in this area but if not. Do you know any place close to the air station for shore dives and spearing?

Re: OAHU, Bellows Air Force station

I haven't dove the sparse-looking reefs directly off of Bellows, but just to the north there are great grounds. The "Mokes" (the twin Mokulua Islands) have tons of fish around them. I also dove further to the north off of Kailua Beach Park, and found it very fishy there too. So if you can find some good reefs off of Bellows, should be similar because of the proximity. I've wondered whether civilians could be in the waters off of Bellows though. Let me know when you find out.

Can you make a dive to the Mokes from shore I won't have a boat so I'm limited to shore dives? Oh how are dives at Halona Blow Hole?

I'll be there for about 5 days mid May what fish are in season then and what are the conditions like Southeastern part of the Oahu like?
