Does anyone have any experience of scuba diving in Morocco? What is it like? where did you dive? any comments on the country as a whole?

Doing some research for my work...

Sam

Re: Morocco

only been to casablanca, looks a lo like downtown cairo, but on the waterfront... i do know that there is a lot of fishing/diving that goes on in Morocco, having access to both the med in the north and the atlantic in the east....im not sure where the best spots are though, but i would guess, maybe tanger, maybe even casa....i know that marrakech is a very lively place but its not on the sea....

Re: Morocco

Sam,

I've only driven along the coast a short distance east and west of Tangier, but it looked really good. Winter vis (when I was there) is supposed to be al least decent. It looked better than that to me, guessing 10 meters+. Summer is supposed to be extremely clear, at least according to the non-divers I was talking to. What I could see was lots of rock with sand channels between, primo spearfishing area if it's not fished out. Given what was in sight, I'll bet there are some very good high profile rocky areas for scubies.

There were also lots of small to medium size commercial fishing boats, so finding boat transport should be easy.
