Tip of the day,

Heres my tip for today, hope everyone can find it in their heart to add some more!

When spearing Bass, especially spooky ones, attach a squidie (plastic squid shaped lure) to the front of your gun. (I attach mine at the front line attachment point.) A nice bright contrasting colour is best.. even better with a bit of glitter on it. While it wont attract bass, it will cause a few of them to stop for a closer look, or come a little closer than usual to check it out. Giving you an extra second to get the shot off..

Joe

Re: Tip of the day,

As im feeling generous today I'll throw in a second one,

After mullet? But having difficulty getting them to come close enough or slow down enough to get a shot off? Take a slice of bread with you and mush it up in the water, Mullet love bread!

Re: Tip of the day,

I carry a small pair of line cutting shears ( Beaver do a pair for £7-£8 ) on my float , when gutting/descaling spikey fish like Bass or bream in the water snip off the spines/spikes first , no more spiked fingers .

Re: Tip of the day,

Oooo like that one.. hate spiked fingers... alternative to cutting a hole in your socks is just to walk down to Church Ope in them... guaranteed holes! lol

Keep you knife/knives razor sharp, clean them well after each dive and keep them sharp. It might save your life one day. Make sure the straps haven't perished.

Re: Tip of the day,

Less serious then...
If you get run over by an idiot in a speed boat be sure to find him at the slip and punch his lights out. (Mind you be prepared to be charged, stupid legal system!)

Good for cutting a hole in your socks too (to let the piss drain out). Watch out for your toes though.
