I'm not aware of any sort of firearms legislation governing the ownership and use of bows, crossbows and catapults (as they aren't strictly speaking firearms) and i would assume rubber powered spearguns fall into this category. As previously pointed out air powered guns are exempt from the normal air weapons rules as they are specifically designed for use under water. They probably are all affected by the offensive weapons act though, so don't go wandering about in Tescos or the town centre with them unless you're wearing a wetsuit, fins and mask and can convince a copper you're on your way to use them for their intended purpose!. One thing i am sure of is when the police come to inspect out cabinets and munitions lockers they don't bat an eye lid at my spearguns and cross bows hanging up in the magazine.

![]() About the anti-spearo rules, if they actually start to enforce the rules and cause trouble, a well-written letter explaining the situation would go a long way. There was some trouble about freediving some time ago, here you can see how it was dealt with... http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=58574 http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=58621 http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=58624 Lucia

I agree with Andy and Rob that presently, spearing has such a low profile in Pembrokeshire that the issue probably isn't worth pursuing, for the time being...
Let's keep our heads up and feed any news back to DB.
