Aye, yes it was. Went on holiday with my mate to Nefyn and on the way back decided a dip was in order so made him sit on the shore with a rod for the time I was in the water.

Re: Spearing north wales

From what I've seen of the weather forecast I think it might have been like that for a while? Looking forward to getting in again around here, it's been a poor season so far for me

Re: Spearing north wales

Against the forecast and the murky water I've been in every weekend with 1-2m of visibility. Lack of fish but always got few fish at the end, a few bass 3-4 pounds and mullets.
Pastor welcome back from your holiday, how was it?
I've a question for you guys, yest I took some mussels in anglesey. Today I've tried them and they are absolutely delicious, however the only problem is that all of them have at least one tiny pearl inside which is quite annoying for abvious reasons. Does anybody know something about it? I ate mussels in my country and never found a pearl inside!
P.S.:I'm fed up with the weather!

Re: Spearing north wales

Hey , good to see some action again , if only on the forum !!
I havent been in at all , i went for a couple of strolls down penmon and white beach , but decided that being butchered by hundreds of mackrel feathers was not a good idea. I often eat mussels from around here , i dont think ive noticed the pearls [i have a big mouth and they go down quickly , followed by something cold and alchoholic]
However , what i do find is those small parasite pea crab inside , mm crunchy.
If the weather settles , i try for a few more dives before winter closes in.
Did you get your engine sorted pastor?

Re: Spearing north wales

It was impossible not to notice this pearl (chewing of course) even drinking a can of beer for each mussel. Btw the taste was very nice!
The last month I always dived in the north coast of Anglesey and in penmon too but the strong SW messes up there as well , it flows in the Menai Strait reaching penmon point in the east side and visibility becomes CRAP (sorry but I'm fed up with this weather! ).
Next weekend's supposed to be good...hopefully!

Good to hear it, how did it go?Where is it?Ahahahahha!Just kidding!

I went two days down in Leyn Peninsula but I didn't go too well, seen many small bass and a few experienced 5-6 pounds still free in the sea, yeah obviously loads of mullet in the second day).
The first day I was with dave, nice to have meet you dave and I hope that in the next three weeks we'll have time to spend together fishing again.
No loads of fish but nice two days anyway for weather conditions and for a sack of scallops which will cover a few dinners!

Re: Spearing north wales

Hi guys, I am booked into the Celtic Royal, Caernarfon on Wednesday. Is there anywhere nearby I might find a few fish? Looking at the wind/weather I am not holding out too much hope!

Cheers
Brett

Re: Spearing north wales

It sounds good to me!
Yesterday and sunday I dived on Leyn Peninsula, cought a few fish but interesting I got my first gilthead bream in UK, no a big fish though. It's about 2 pounds but it was very good to finally catch a different fish! It was in a school of bass of same size.
Have you ever heard about someone who speared a Gilthead bream in North Wales? Or I'm the first one?
