Yest I had it for dinner and it was very nice! When the next one? I think I better go back in Italy if I want it more regularly!

Re: Spearing north wales

There's no much to say, it was in a school of bass of same size in a place with loads of sand around. Interesting is that in the stomach it just had some seaweeds which is pretty strange since it usually eats other stuff.

Re: Spearing north wales

The lines are still there as is Alun again now It is the orange buoy with the life ring under it, this is the warm up line, there is a second line with a blue barrell which attaches it to the floor.... however

We don't dive on either as the main line as they cant be lifted and they are too thick for lanyards and the vis is bad again at the moment. We take our own line and drop it to depth, don't go by yourself. PM me if you want to go and you can meet up with us.

See ya

Steve

Re: Spearing north wales

Went in tonight ,was a bit choppy but vis was good at 1-2m close in to 3-5m further out, saw some small pollock but no bass or mullet, the sea had a strange , sort of deserted feeling about it. I might try again early morning, the wind might drop a notch or two.

Re: Spearing north wales

Went in during the weekend. Nice weather, very mild wind, water temp. 15C.
North coast of Ynys Môn - visibility 2-3m. Poor, but still fishable.
South coast - vis. 8m LW, dropping down to 6m at HW. As good as it gets in these parts.
Got few 3lbs bass, plenty of pollock and couple of lobsters. My freezer is full.
I also saw blue-ish lobster. I understand this is rare mutation. I had a moment of weakness and left it in the sea.

Something unusuall happend to me on Sunday. I was swimming on the surface, my direction perpendicular to a decent current. I was dragging the float about 10m behind me, with some fish and lobster attached to it. Then suddenly the float line went tense, pointing towards the sea bottom (about 6-8m at that point). I instinctively grabbed the line with my hand, pulled and the line snapped. Float looked fine, so I swam back to it. Fish and lobster were there, untouched (my initial thought was that a seal was onto my fish). I still don't know what happend, but whatever you do - have a knife with you.
