Monterey area - wetsuit thickness?

Hey guys. I didn't know if I should post this in beginner hunting or wetsuits. Wetsuits made the most sense.

Anyway, I am selling my awful 7mm scuba suit and looking at spearfishing suit. I dive in the Monterey area, as well as in some local rivers. The 7mm is waaay too hot warm. What do other Monterey-area divers use? I'm thinking about a 5mm, since it wouldn't be as cumbersome as a 7mm but might be sufficiently warm. What do you think? Thanks!

I dive the Monterrey area in a 5mm Omer Mimetic. No problems with cold. If you get really cold you can always use a hooded vest or a polyprooylene rash guard. Then you can always use your suit in the Channel Islands or down south.
