Cressi 5mm Camo Suit Problems
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- has anybody had a problem with a Cressi 5mm Camo suit? The silver lining on mine has rubbed off and the rubber has gone tacky, only happened around the neck/chin area. Suits about 11months old and though used a lot has not been into contact with oil/petrol/solvent but has been washed every time its used. Would be interested to hear of similar probs or a solution. Thanks

Sorry, but i don't own that wetsuit. I do have a Omer Ocean Mimetic and a Rabitech Predator, both 5mm open cell wetsuits. Both suits are still in good conditions even though they're over 3 years old. What i have noticed is that generally after about a year of hard use, my suits become thinner. What you must remember is that wetsuits aren't designed to last for-ever!!! I reckon a year of hard diving, like maybe once or twice a week, is a good life span for ANY wetsuit. What we tend to do is use our wetsuits for much longer than we should. This can easily be seen when you purchase a new wetsuit. It's now suddenly soooo much warmer than your older suit, as well as sooo much more bouyant. Well, thats my 2c worth!! Don't know what the other spearo think, but pretty sure you'll get a couple of more reponses!! Regards miles

Thanks for info, its not the general wear and tear but the fact that the neoprene has gone tacky and is almost adhesive to touch that worries me, I have the same suit that is now 5 yrs old and though thinner and full of holes it doesn't feel like an adhesive plaster to touch!!!;¬))))))

Sometimes the neoprene can accumulate dirt and oils through repeated and often exposure/use. This could be making it feel "tacky". Why don't you buy a wetsuit shampoo from a local surf shop and see if that solves the problem? Another possibility is that the neoprene has been damaged from excessive stretching, and the tackiness you feel is from the neoprene breaking down.

The metallite lining on the inside wears off after a while in the areas where there is most friction (under the knees, neck etc.), then the neopren is exposed and that doesnt glide on your skin as easily. Happens to all Cressis with metallite interior after some usage period.

What Ntrik states is completely true, the metalite inside wears off, and I would add that this happens in all the wetsuit's brands, mostly in the high friction areas. The neopren gets thinner with the use, which causes a decrease in its ''thermic'' properties, thus, this affects its elasticity and tearing it off becomes easier.
