Convenience zip?

Having been surfing for years and fishing last year in a surf suit I have always been happy to drink lots of water and pee freely in my suit. However I have now ordered a tailor made spearfishing suit and I don't fancy peeing in something that fits so snugly. I have seen other threads about p-valves and pissettes but the former looks too complex and the latter too embarassing by far. Scuba divers have convenience zips on their drysuits - could one be fitted to a wetsuit?

Re: Convenience zip?

Thanks for the llink. I have read this and other threads but I cannot find any mention of anyone actually trying a zip. A zip seems to me to be an ideal solution (useful for women too) but I wonder if anyone has any experiences to share or reasons why it wouldn't work?

omg i remember that pissette thread! that was the funniest thing i have ever seen in my life whatever you do, DO NOT get the pissette. i would rather pee in my suit and let cold water in to wash it out than have that thing. but yes that pissette thread will provide some good laughs.

Re: Convenience zip?

You can laugh but the wetsuit manufacturers will have the last laugh- at your expense.

Re: Convenience zip?

how? if i dont buy their product, how can they laugh at me for not buying one of their products, not giving them any of my money, and not supporting their company? i have not given them any sort of profit if i dont buy their product, so how can it be at my expense if they laugh? they would have nothing against the consumers that go to a different company.

Re: Convenience zip?

Relax Hypersquid. Now we're laughing at you.
Spiderman, it's definitely doable, just make sure you get a dry-zip installed, not a useless/screen-door wetsuit zip, or you'll negate the whole effect of a proper freedive suit.
Peace,
Erik Y.

Re: Convenience zip?

and when closing the zip do it as carefully as you can since the suit will be more close to the body than pants.

Margy you got the point: take care of your genitals. A pee zip for me is not a good idea if you go deep: a good neoprene compresses at depth under pressure, but the zip won't because its made in solid material (either in metal of plastic). So if you dive deep, the zip of a tight suit will just hard-press your...how you call'em...family jewels?
