I'm ready to purchase my first freediving suit and am just about frustrated. There are so many suits out there I can hardly decide. I still have never even seen one close up. One name I see that consistently pops up is Elios. So I guess that's what I'm looking at. My budget is around $300 but may be willing to splurge a little more. I don't mind spending money on a properly fitting quality suit.
So, can I get a custom Elios in that range and about how long will I have to wait? More or less than a month? Are all freediving suits made in Europe? I'm more interested in the competitive aspects over hunting but will be diving around a lot of rocks so should be durable. |

you can get an elios suit with open cell on the inside, and i think nylon on the outside, high waist pants, for around $260. might be a little more but it should be within your price range. read some of the other threads, more specifically mine, as i asked all of those questions. (and they were answered

Thanks for the links. I'll check them too. I did find the link to Elios for those kind of questions. I told them what I was doing and they replied promptly with 5 possible reccomendations. Now I have to decide and get the measurements. I forgot to ask. Do they want the measurements in metric or imperial.
I froze my ass off today in my 3 mil scuba suit. I hope that the open cell 3 mil is as warm as everyone claims. I tend to get colder than the average person and was seriously thinking about getting another quote for the 5 mil. 5'7 132 pounds and last time I was calipered I was at less than 2% body fat. One thing I didn't think to ask. Do they want the measurements in metric or imperial? |

OK. I did the measurements, filled out the form, and sent it in. After that it took me to a blank page saying elios. A little confused here. When you place a custom order do you normally get an automated response that they received the order and/or payment options? Maybe I just have to wait a couple of days and see what happens.

It takes them a few days for them to respond, they will send you an email to confirm the measurments then another one to confirm the price. You then have to make the payment through the pay link on their website.

Just ordered. Crossing my fingers for a good fit.
Almost forgot. Up to this point I've been wearing a standard pair of Uzzi swim shorts under my scuba suit. I suspect they are too baggy and might be a problem with the new suit. So, what are you wearing under your custom open-cell suits? Same, naked, speedos, or something else? Last edited by MKDVR; April 3rd, 2006 at 22:50. |

Naked or speedos are the only proper options.
Once you get the hang of wearing it you will understand how great is your new suit!

A tip concerning going naked under your suit.I forgot my speedo's & went commando under the suit.Problem was when I got back I started to take my suit off on the busy pier forgetting I was in the buff underneath. The passing old ladies thought all their xmas's had come at once!

For anyone who has >recently< received their Elios suit can you tell me how long your total wait was? I'm at about 6 weeks now. Not bitching yet but will be soon. They say 20 days to build. I e-mailed after 32 days and said they would start it and send it the following week. That week has come and gone. Just sitting here waiting and trying to be patient. :sigh:

Drop them a line. I do not know what it is - probably too many people ordering suits ? - but they seem to be a little bit scatterbrained at the moment.
But they still make the best stuff ever |

5 weeks to Canada recently, I suspect Spring is a busier time for them. remember you're dealing with a different culture where there are different expectations around business!
You will be extremely happy when you get in the water with that suit. Peace, Erik Y.
