open cell gloves?

Anyone know of anyone who makes/sells open cell gloves? They'd be some much warmer than the surfer gloves I've got on now, despite the 5mm thickness and titanium lining. They would be a doddle to put on (compared to the rest of your normal open cell wetsuit) and would be so much warmer. I just don't know if anyone makes 'em. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

I wouldn't care if they're knackered after one season, so are surfers gloves and they are lined with nylon inside and out.

Ask Spiros from www.diveskin.net, I'm sure he'll be able to make you the gloves you need, in open-cell.

Re: open cell gloves?

I use a pair of the Elios 3-finger mitts for winter diving. They are great, and a LOT cheaper than my Picasso 3-finger mitts that I used to use. They are nylon out and silver coated opencell inside- my picasso were gold coated opencell on the inside.

In summer time I use Picasso 3mm goves with gold coated opencell insides and nylon outers- I haven't found a warmer 3mm glove anywhere.

I used to have a pair of DUI drysuit gloves that were opencell inside and nylon out. They were pretty cool in that they were 3mm thick on the palms and 6mm thick on the back of the hand- gave better dexterity and still kept your hands warm in cold water. I don't think that DUI makes them anymore but someone else might.

I've owned suits from both Elios and Diveskin and there's no comaprison- Elios wins hand's down.

Re: open cell gloves?

Just a little hair conditoner and water mix will work. There are plenty of threads on here about "Suit Lube" to look through. I start with a 50/50 mix and thin it out from there.

I wouldn't trust baby oil when it comes to my wetsuit- not sure what's in it but any kind of petroleum product will eat away at your rubber suit and make you buy a new one long before you would, otherwise, need to.
