help with new wetsuit

Hi all
Could do with a little help, I am in desperate need of a winter 5/3 wetsuit. The one I have just torn was an o’neil heat in size xxxl. I have found plenty of "boys size suits" but cant find one to fit me 40 inch waist 48 inch chest and 6 foot 1inch tall.
If anybody has any info I would much appreciate it as I’m going away at the end of the month and will need to find something by then.
Anywhere in the UK will be fine as most place's now offer a mail order service.
Paul

Re: help with new wetsuit

Try dave at Spearo.co.uk as he can get made-to-measure suits which sounds like what you need Off the rack suits are measured to 'standard' sizes and you have to be real lucky for them to fit well.

Re: help with new wetsuit

By 5/3 do you mean a surf suit? If so you need to speak to Andy at Second Skin in Braunton. His suits are the best I have found - simple no gimmics designs that fit (lots of off the peg sizes or custom made) and last for ages (mine is nearly 10 years old and going strong!

Re: help with new wetsuit

Thanks guys
Got myself a West 5,4,3 wetsuit from The wetsuit factory in Hayle (I think)
Should have been £299 got it for £150 cash after a bit of a haggle. First impressions are very good we’ll find out in the winter.

Re: help with new wetsuit

heh, you think you have it rough?
Try finding a suit to fit me, 6'6" 54" chest 300 lbs.

the first time I went diving I went to a dive shop to find a rental suit and the guy pretty much laughed me out of the store. called me the jolly green giant, asked me if I play football and told me I'd need a custom suit. 4 shops later, I found someone with a 3XL long. It was still tight, but bearable.

now, after diving a few times I realized its worth it and sent an email to elios.

Re: help with new wetsuit

Hi beero,
i am about to order a suit from elios. Which suit did you go for? Think i may go for a custom one, but really not sure on it all yet.

Cheers,
Huw

Re: help with new wetsuit

I'm still thinking.
probably going to go with kanoko outside / thermic pile inside medium density heiwa. 5mm will run 210 euro + 60 euro shipping = about $350
its getting close to the end of the season / winter here, so I may wait 6 months before ordering.
