I bought my first spearing suit a 5mm Omer new team titanium suit New team titanium 5mm OMER Apnea Suits United Kingdom Dive Scuba store .com
(the review on that suit is me dripping by the way. Im not that bitter! honest........) back in March. But have found the velcro beaver flap constantly comes undone and the stitching started to come undone at the base of the suit within a week or so. Since then the glue that omer have used to seal the suit has gradually lost its strength and i am having to constantly re-seal different parts of the suit as each bit of omer glue gradually goes. I have allways put the suit on with a hair conditioner mix and washed the suit out with fresh water straight after use. Have i managed to buy the 1 duff suit out of the 100 or is this sort of thing fairly normal? Im guessing its not, as my friends have cressi suits and another guy i know has an omer mimmitec and they havent experienced any of the above problems? And finally, if you guys had to buy a new 5mm spearing suit what would you suggest? Thanks in advance Ian

That is interesting, I don't know the answer about that being normal for most people but I think Elios have the best reputation.
My suits have a hard life & I dont expect them two last two seasons but that is through wear & tear.

I can only speak for elios since that's the only suit I have ever had.
Haven't yet had any trouble with my 5/6mm suit whatsoever, it's just seen one season so far, but still almost looks like new. No damage, glue still where it belongs, all seams in perfect order. What more would one want?

Man that sucks. My omer suit is sweet. I have the camo mimetec suit in 5mil and I don't ever rinse it, don't use conditioner to put it on and a year later it's going strong. It has lost some of it's warmth but I use it for scuba too and that compresess the material so it's to be expected. Figure it was the new child laborer at the factory that made that one.

I don't have an Omer suit, but one of my best dive buddies has one, and he has gotten three years of hard service out of it. He is now thinking about replacing it with a new one, but three years isn't bad.

Have you contacted Scubastore about this? I don't know if they can provide a remedy but it sure sounds like you got a defective suit. I've only had my Omer 3 mil for a couple of weeks and about 12-14 hours in the water but I've seen plenty of them under hard use with no problems.
Elios does make absolutely perfect suits also. |

I always wonder about larger online stores and how long their stock has been sitting. You never know how well it's stored. You could have gotten a defective of course. I would contact the retailer or Omer directly and be asking questions.
I'm planning on getting the Omer Green Mimic 3mm very soon. |

I didnt actually buy the suit from scubastore it was down to my own laziness that i used that link (sorry scubastore), i bought it from 'apnea' in Jersey.
I've contacted apnea and they have asked for pictures, so im just about to send them pictures of the suit which they are then going to forward onto omer. However i think i will also send these pics to omer myself. Just to make sure they know about it. Fingers crossed this will all finish with a happy ending. I'll keep you guys posted

Apnea in Jersey are developing a reputation for service second to none. It'll be interesting to see how they treat you. I would let them handle it initially as they sold you the suit and are therefore responsible for making sure it was "fit for purpose".

update:
Pics of the suit have been sent to 'Apnea' and they in turn have then forwarded them onto omersub. Fingers crossed omer will sort this out asap so i can have a nice warm suit ready for the great British Winter.

Strangely I now find myself in a similar position. http://forums.deeperblue.net/664423-post1457.html

that's a shocker!. I've had to pry mine off the rubber bed in my pickup on some cold mornings (they were frozen to it - under my wetsuit - which was also frozen). I'm sure you'll get a remedy.

Let us know how it goes with ice fins Dave, as i also bought mine through scubaland.fr and have often wondered how i'd get on if i had any problems with my ice fins.
Omer need to buck there ideas up on all fronts by the looks of it!
