First off, happy to have found this site, loads of information!!!
My wetsuit needs isn't for your typical application. The purpose for which I will be using a wetsuit is allowing me to swim out to rocks a couple hundreds yards from shore and fish with a rod and reel. On occasion do some skishing, which is floating(drifting) while fishing. Most of the time though I will be swimming out to rocks and climbing onto them to fish from. This will allow me to get to locations I wouldn't normally be able to fish from with waders. I know that I will need a custom wetsuit since I'm 6'3"(191cm) and 195lbs(88kg). Looking at DiveSkin or Elios. Based on my needs and the application I will be using the wetsuit for, I would greatly appreciate some advice. Like whether I need open cell interior and I'm guessing nylon for the exterior. Thanks for any help!!! |

Open inside, Nylon outside, reinforced knees and elbows. If you are going the custom route then perhaps you could ask about reinforced underarms where the butt rubs... or forearms if You use a baitcaster.

If you aren't going to be diving at all (or even to limited depths) try a dry suit. A guy I abalone dive/spearfish with uses a wakeboarding drysuit and it works fine. He was going with me to around 30 feet, but that was it (due to the genitalia compression factor). But, because drysuits aren't as bouyant as wetsuits, you would definitely want to wear a life vest. If you don't already have one, some kayak vests are pretty nice, easy to swim in, and allow movement. If you look around, a decent drysuit can be had for a few hundred $.
