Re: Elios coloured shadows camo suit suitable for general freediving?

ultra-life,
use the forum's search function on a couple of keywords and You will find a couple of threads dealing with this issue.
I can only recommend elios suits. I have a 5/6mm opencell with black coating inside, nylon outside that will keep me nice'n'toasty for 45-60minutes in 4°C water, depending on diet. - When getting open cell, the coating is well worth the extra bucks, at least for a first suit, so You can get used to putting it on and taking it off.

I posted a detailed description of my suit on here some time in February last year.

Have fun!

another note for the yama 45 red camo.. there are some pics that make it look red and some pics that make it look purple.. when i asked elios, they said it looks more red than purple.. when i received it, it looks more purple than red.. in any case, it's an awesome suit... and the fish were gettin used to the shaca color and seemed to really get turned on by the new purple... hehehe

Re: Elios coloured shadows camo suit suitable for general freediving?

I have the Supersmooth skin 5mm suit from Elios. I ordered this one because the standard smoothskin does not have many color variations. The surface of the supersmooth is indeed more smoother, and seem to be also more resistant to tear. The classic smoothskin feels sort of sticky on the outside, whereas the supersmooth is more slippery. I had no chance yet to try it out in open water, just few rounds in the pool, so no real experience, but it feels very good.

I also have a 3mm Black Shadow with nylon outside. Bought it as my first freedive suit, and only can recommend it. I probably would tear apart any smoothskin/opencell suit while putting it on the first time.

I would recommend the open in/nylon out. It's tough, and it's more stretchable, meaning less likely to tear as compared to smoothskin out.

Say, where was it you're going to? I really want to go diving. I'm depressed because I miss the sea. If where you're going sounds nice, I might seriously consider going over for a while.

I just went out to Nusa Lembongan for a couple days, but I´m back now. Turns out my knee still isn´t ready for surfing(I´ve had stitches in it).

I´m actually thinking about going to Koh Tao for a freediving course after all. Not really feeling the surfing atm, especially with my knee giving me trouble. My visa expires in two weeks and I have a flight to Kuala Lumpur then. Might as well continue on to Thailand.

Thanks for all the info everyone!

Regarding the suggestion to search the forums, I just want to say that I only asked a couple specific questions here, and I did a search on all of them before I posted. I know that there are lots of generic threads discussing Elios suits, but this one started out with one specific question. That being said, I do really appreciate the info presented here! Just wanted to point out that I did everything "according to protocol", as I´m very picky about stuff like that myself

I´ll probably end up getting a normal coating inside, nylon outside in the end. The mesh doesn´t look very impressive, judging by the reply that chrismar got.
