nothing beats the feeling of arriving home to find a package of new dive gear, right?

Re: Elios 3mm SmoothSkin/openCell Heiwa suit

Hey, question for you guys who have ordered from Elios. If they say they sent you a package, gives you a tracking number that doesn't exist, asks you for payment of items you did not order, doesn't/hasn't replied to emails sent regarding those issues, is it any reason to worry? The post company says no parcel is due to arrive for me, meaning nothing has been sent for me. I know I'm probably being paranoid, but it's in my nature.

Re: Elios 3mm SmoothSkin/openCell Heiwa suit

Elios will certainly not try ripping you off. They run a serious business and cannot afford risking their reputation. Well, it is probably apparent, but I dare to mention it anyway, just for the case: make sure you test the tracking number with the right parcel service. For example, if it is a tracking number of the Italian Post, you have to check on their website, and not on the website of your local postal service.

Elios says it's with UPS, and even provided a link for it.

Yeah I know Elios won't rip me off, it's just me being paranoid. Sigh.

They do not reply to emails promptly. Normally give seven days for email reply.

Patience!

Elios make the best suits money can buy in my opinion, and the'yre worth the wait. I'm just in the process of ordering a new one with their new camo.

Yes master Captain J! I will try to be patient.

I don't think I ever experienced so much excitement waiting for something to come. I sometimes smile to myself when I think that my suit and noseclips are on the way. People are starting to think I'm weird.

Re: Elios 3mm SmoothSkin/openCell Heiwa suit

it really depends on the neoprene... heiwa, yamamoto.. very fragile.. but less so the thicker.. the econoline, not as fragile. You will just have to be sure to lube it up good, follow eliossub instructions on putting it on.. and be careful how you take it off..

They can last a long time with very little or no trouble if you are careful. I just replaced a 5 or 6yr old 3mil smooth outside, but mainly because the exposure to the sun had finally done a number the quality of the neoprene (not under the water enough I guess).

Re: Elios 3mm SmoothSkin/openCell Heiwa suit

My suit arrived today! Finally. Now waiting for my noseclips.

From what I read in the forums, you guys seem to say that the opencell smoothskin seems rather fragile. However, I seem to find it tougher than I read. I imagined it a lot easier to rip.

Anyway, I put on my wetsuit on just now to try. It was my first time ever trying to put a opencell suit on. Man is it difficult without soap! I tried putting it on with water only, and although I did manage to get it (the pant) on (eventually), I could have spent a whole lot less effort. And I think I have a big head! At least in comparison to my neck. Without soap, it was impossible to out my head through the neck part.

And the pant. I know it's 'high waist', but does it really have to come up so high? When I put my top on, I noticed an obvious bulge in the part where the pant ends under my top. It looks akward, and photos I've seen of people wearing these suit don't seem to have this bulge.

One more thing. I ordered a monofin model of the suit, meaning hands in front when finning. Is it supposed to come with arm sleeves that are too long?

Re: Elios 3mm SmoothSkin/openCell Heiwa suit

Shouldn't be too long - and do use lube to put the suit on. Without you will eventually tear it (my first suit - a 5 mil black shadow in/superstretch out - is fairly ragged on the inside from those first few tries without lube. It may be the arms seem long because, without lube, they are sticking.

Re: Elios 3mm SmoothSkin/openCell Heiwa suit

I'd use a 1-10 or 2-10 ratio cream rinse to water mix for lube.. it's less of an irritant than soaps/shampoos. Once you have the jacket on it sometimes helps to pull it away from your wrists and blow up the arms like a balloon to adjust them. Be sure you get the lube everywhere.
When removing the suit jacket.. be sure it's wet, fold the jacket bottom to your chest and add water so it keeps the suit wet as you peel it off.
