Dahab is great ... but I am from the Saudi coste and we opend the door for tourists ... nothing beats a boat trip in our side... but for great beach dives dahab is amazing and I do consider it mu second home ... don't miss the canyons dive site

458Mike, thanks for the reply. Do you have experience diving both Dahab and the southern areas like Marsa Shagra?

You are wrong here. You can try any other dtstination. Vis in Egypt are great everywhere. In my opinion Dahab the best for free. But Safaga also very good.

seeking information on the Red Sea

Dahab is, of course, tempting, but line diving the blue hole is not our cup of tea. Its my understanding that the coral along the coast is not as good as the more southerly sections of the Red Sea and the vis is bit better there. Can you comment on that?ThanksConnor

    Squeaky ears

Sorry to reply late, but I can contribute:I hit my right ear in Dahab in 2019. Flew in with a slight cold, went freediving, got feverish, gave myself two days to recover. Then I started again, "only shallow depth, doing some harmless exercises" down to 20 meters max. Heared that SQUEAKING...

    Squeaky ears

Hello, I've been freediving for a week now in Dahab. Everything was going well. 2 days ago, while on a warm-up dive to 10m, my left ear was squeaking loudly during equalizing. Never had this before. Then vertigo set in & I had to go up. It felt like I had truly ruptured my ear. Although, there...

Hello.I'm currently in Dahab and staying next week (leaving on 26th of Dec). I've spent last week diving, but now my group have left and I'm looking for someone to train with during next week. Custom freedive wetsuit recommendations

That's great info, thank you! It's nice to know I could rent a suit there if mine got ripped or something. I'll be there for a one month mentorship and so if you have any other suggestions or advice for me on the trip, I'm all ears. Thanks again!

    Custom freedive wetsuit recommendations

Hi, I’d second in the Elios. I dove in Dahab last winter and was just fine with the double lined 5mm rental suit provided by Dahab Freedivers (they switch from 3mm to 5mm in winter for their rentals).I bought an 8mm custom cell/skin from Elios and it had been extremely warm, usually hot, in...

    Custom freedive wetsuit recommendations

I was trying to put it in perspective for myself, I scuba in 14-16C in 5mm wetsuit (doubled up on chest) but run a little hot. I really hope I can make time in future for freediving, I am so amazed by freedivers, I only catch some rock lobster here and there, quite shallow in fact.I think for...

    Custom freedive wetsuit recommendations

I'll be diving the blue hole in Dahab for a month and the instructor really didn't say; he just said I'll need a 5mm for the 21C water. According to what I've read, there isn't really a thermocline in the blue hole itself. I'm a 30m diver now so, if there is a thermocline down there, I won't...
