Just heard on the news that a Hungarian escape artist set a new world record today in Los Angeles by being chained up in water tank and holding his breath for 10:17. Talk about breathless, LOL!!!

They showed video of it on the local news. I'm not sure the full details. Surely, someone else will see it and possibly find a news story about it online and post the link.

Have not seen any mentioning of Pure oxigen use, but the bubbles may be very wel eateble :)

More information is welcome as I'm now downloading the video..

Video shows breathing a gas under water. Any scubadiver trained to breath directly from freeflowed scuba.

I was just about to say that but maybe it was him just blowing some off just before he surfaced?

Circus baloney it looks like to me. What was up with all the bubble-bath in the tank, if not hiding breathing apparatus? Also recovery was rather unusual for a 10min hold i thought, not to mention safety. What safety?!

I think being a magician is all very well & groovy but lying and defrauding people who work very hard is not right. If i was a well known static apneist, trying to make ends meet with coaching/sponsors etc. and relying on my status, i would be seriously thinking about suing people who pull stunts like that.

I think his SP was suspect no signal no verbal OK.A lot of bubbles in the tank, did he have gas?

did he have gas?

I am sure he did. The day before he tryed the same thing and had to surface after little over one minute. He said the water was to cold, his muscels were cramping (yeah right!:naughty). I guess something went wrong with his breathing aparatus.

Nice show, but it has nothing to do with a world record!

Ha, Ant and Dec, two comedians on English telly did better than that with a couple of day's training at most.

mmmhh...I see the bubbles in the tank but they don't seem to come out of his mouth!

Ouch! You're gonna pay for that one! Best ban the good lady from computers for the rest of her life :D

Be better off banning her from the bedroom, I tell ya I have no bother holding my breath past the 10 minute mark!

I'm very pleased to see a new talented Hungarian apneist rising from the unknown. :)
Actually, he is not unknown to me, to us. Aniko was on a TV show, where David was also invited. They had a conversation, and they didn't agree with everything, let's say. So they were agruing about holding breath, as I remember. May be Aniko will tell more about it.
