My one and only dry sub dive took place off Georgetown, Grand Cayman a while back. This was before Ivan trashed the island and destroyed the deep submergence vessel sad to say. Did the dive with Grand Cayman Submarine Tour - Grand Cayman Atlantis Submarines - Grand Cayman Family Friendly Activities . They still run their sub "bus" down to about 112 ft. along the rampart of the drop off. Still worth a dive in my opinion. I can recall when they drove these large subs on flatbeds down I-95 one at a time to be shipped to destinations in the Caribbean. Strange sight!

Nice report. I was wanting to do the deep dive a few years ago, now I will probably never get the chance. When diving on scuba, I always looked down into the deep abyss and wanted to go down and check it out.

Did you get to see the ship that is perched on a small ledge around 800 feet? I've seen pictures of it from previous sub dives at there shop in Georgetown. It looked in pristine condition. No growth of corals or algee and really not much rust. I guess not much going on down that deep, but it would still be very cool to go down there.

I have also seen the larger sub under water while diving behind "Sunset house" while I was freediving near the mermaid statue. The tourist's love to see you dive down there.

I hear you, missed out on diving the Kirk Pride myself. Some friends dove it in the 1980's, shot some nice still images in good visibility. It was a flip of a coin that we didn't dive it in 2003 probably. I added some high res still images, some wreck details and video link to the write up at: [ame=http://fksa.org/forumdisplay.php?f=92]Something Rich And Strange ... The lure of the depths off these drop offs in clear blue water sure can be captivating. I started scooter free diving in Cayman in earnest a few years ago. A first video effort with a low grade video camera from that time:

It would be fun to free dive around the statue while sub rides are going on. A favorite half day stop lay nearby, Eden Rock. Love free diving through all those caves with the tarpon.
