I read a 2002 post from Eric Fattah as follows explaining what is a 16 x 50m:
"16x50m = 16 consecutive 50m dynamics as fast as possible
The fastest I've heard is around 13'00.
How did they score your points for the 16x50m?

So I tried this at my local 25 meter pool with these results:
Took me 40 secs to swim 50 meters or 2 lenghts in one breath.
Very hard to go again with only 20 seconds recovery and wanted to breath very hard deep and fast. After about 2 like this at 60 seconds total I got very winded and slowed to doing 40 sec dynamic of 50 meter and 50 seconds recovery so 90 seconds total and still had to breathe pretty hard and deep and fast to keep going.
I was wondering how long good swimmers take to do two 25 meter lengths (for 1 - 50m) and how long they recover inbetween?
Also what is their breathing patterns, do they breath as hard and deep and fast as they can or do they do hook breathes or deep breaths then slower relaxation breaths or something else?
If I did do 16 intervals at 90 seconds per interval so 40 seconds swim and 50 seconds recovery is it possible I could BO from cumulative buildup of something? (50 meters is not that long for me as I can do +100 meters PB without much fuss)
I am interested in this as I would like something that I can do that I can compare myself to accomplished freedivers and measure my progression and not be at great risk of BO like it seems I would if I tried to do personal best max dynamic to measure progress as a regular training item.
Thanks and Cheers Wes
